This website is dedicated to the life and work of Peter Llewellyn-Jones. Peter passed away on 18 August 2026 at the age of 76 and leaves an extraordinary legacy as a television performer, interpreter, teacher, researcher, and one of the recognised founders of the profession of British Sign Language/English Interpreting. Amongst his many accomplishments, Peter was an integral part of the founding of both ASLI, the first professional association of BSL/English Interpreters, as well as the first Register of BSL/English Interpreters. In addition, he developed, ran, and taught interpreting courses at the NVQ, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels. Peter's legacy lives on in not only the influential publications he produced, but, more importantly, in the many students he taught whose commitment to and practice of the highest quality communication access he shaped in a myriad of ways. To me, he will always be the best professional collaborator that anyone one could have. I shall always cherish him as a dear friend.
